Speed Measuring Device (SMD) vs Aircraft
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: Washington. I was headed east bound on I-90 near ellensburg, I noticed I was doing about 77 in a 70 so I slowed down and set my cruise at 70. About 5-8 miles later I pass a cop sitting on top of an overpass, facing in the direction of traffic flow, and as I pass he turns his lights on and proceeds to pull me over. He told me I was monitored by AIRCRAFT doing 85 in a 70. I never remember going that fast. So of course he gave me the ticket, however when he wrote the ticket instead of checking aircraft he checked SMD. I know for a fact I wasn't going 85 when I passed him by that overpass. I have asked for a hearing date, however my reply will be done by letter form as I'm overseas and can't make it back. Is there anything I can put in my reply about that? Why wouldn't he put aircraft? Is that something big enough to get the ticket tossed?? any help is greatly appreciated!

Read the thread on discovery in Washington ticket cases. The answer to discovery will help you determine how your speed was measured and possible defenses.
