Speeding Ticket While on a Restricted License Due to Underage DWAI
My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: New York
In August of 2010, I was pulled over for drinking and driving. After a few months of court dates, I was able to reduce my crime from a DWI to a DWAI. I was issued a restricted license in January 2011 which allows me to go to school, work and appointments. I won't be able to get my full license back from a year of my conviction which will be January of 2012. However, tonight on my way home from school, I was pulled over for doing a 46 in a 30. The officer issued me a standard speeding ticket because I was on route from school to home, so I did not violate my terms of restriction. However, I am very nervous about what this speeding ticket will do to my already restricted license. The officer was really nice about the ticket, and acknowledged that I was on route so there was no problem with being anywhere else than from where I was supposed to be. I do not want to lose my driving privelidges to school, work or appointments. Any advice, help or suggestions? Thank You.
Re: Speeding Ticket While on a Restricted License Due to Underage DWAI
If you did not violate your restrictions, such that you are not subject to a sanction for violating your restrictions, then you won't be subject to a sanction on that basis.
If you are subject to potential additional driver's license sanctions, driver responsibility fees, etc., based upon your having additional points or offenses on your record, that's another matter. Also, as if your insurance situation weren't already bad enough, you can expect a conviction on the speeding ticket to again bump up your rates.
