Misdemeanor Charge for Filing a Wrongful Police Report
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
If a person is charged with filing a wrongful police report was not arrested just informed of the charges and works for and agency like DOE. What if any legal issues does that person face? If they get the charges dropped, expunged or sealed are there still any legal issues to be faced?
Re: Misdemeanor Charge for Filing a Wrongful Police Report
If you were informed of the charges, such as given a notice to appear in court, it's STILL a misdemeanor arrest, even if not physically taken into custody.
The consequences depend on the policies of DOE. Every state agency doesn't play by the same rules. In MY agency, I'd be terminated for ANY type of arrest. You'll want to check the policy for your agency. Could be anything from a stern look and finger shake saying "don't do that anymore", all the way up to termination, and anything in between.
