Minor Paraphernalia Charge
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Alabama
I was arrested a few weeks ago on a paraphernalia charge. There was no weed or any other illegal substance involved, only resin in the pipe. I am 17 and this is my first time being arrested for anything. I live in Limestone county, AL. I know that this is a Class A misdemeanor and I understand what that means. I have a meeting with a juvenile probation officer very soon. I have two questions, what are some realistic things that could happen to me and could I go through a diversion program and not have this on my record and not be on probation? Detailed answers are encouraged. Thank you.
Re: Minor Paraphernalia Charge
So this is juvenile court? A juvenile court has broad discretion in its resolution of a charge, and how it treats you will depend upon such factors as your prior history with law enforcement and the courts, as well as your home, school and community records. If the court is concerned that you're continuing to use illegal drugs, I would expect the disposition to involve drug testing.
