Harassment by a Neighbor Who Calls the Police Making False Allegations
My question involves defamation in the state of:(Illinois) A boy down the street (with some possible"issues") has called the police 3 times this week claiming my son is verbally threatening him and driving by his house to purposely engage in altercations ( both are 18yrs. old); as explained to me today by an officer responding to "another" complaint. My son denies this and explained he was getting gas today and simply looked in his direction. The officer asked the boys to avoid eachother. This young man is an aspiring police officer and drives and old police car he purchased and slowly pratrols our neighborhood (issues)! I am concerned about his mental stability and any further problems he may cause. How do I protect my son and inform this boy he must stop reporting false information/alligations to the police? Thank you in advance for any help and advice!! Most Concerned Mom...
Re: Harassment by a Neighbor Who Calls the Police Making False Allegations
Your son cannot stop this other person from calling the police. There's no way to impound the person's phone and dialing finger. So your son will have to deal with the fact that this person may continue to call the police and that he may again be questioned about the allegations. If the police conclude that this person is making frivolous or false reports, they will advise him to stop and potentially charge him accordingly.
