Throwing Soda on a Store Clerk
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wisconsin
(Fitchburg, WI)
Hi,
I am new here in case no one notices :)........:(
Today I was very upset and I threw/ knocked over a fountain soda on a young lady who was working the cash register at a gas station, and then I left the store immediately. They did not ask me to pay for the soda, and I did not leave the store with any property.
This was very stupid of me...
About 1 hr later a fitchburg officer came to my house and delivered a citation for disorderly conduct and shoplifting.
....
They identified me by my vehicle which i sold back in 10/2010.
This just happened to me today.
Can they really charge me with shoplifting?
Re: Throwing .79 Cent Soda on Store Clerk
whose soda was it?
if it was a soda you were going to purchase, yes, they can charge you with what they have and you should feel lucky you weren't charged with battery on top of that.
Re: Throwing .79 Cent Soda on Store Clerk
Agreed.
Throwing something at someone else is not something that big people do. What you threw didn't belong to you.
This is going to become very expensive.
Re: Throwing .79 Cent Soda on Store Clerk
thank you guys for replying.
Before being so harsh please understand that i know i was very wrong and regret my actions very much.
I have a chronic depression problem and have a bottled up anger problem that i think that i should probably get some counseling for. This is not an excuse just me pointing out that i know i need to work on myself really bad.
Anyway I was hoping for a little more insight to my defense like lowering a charge.
Do you think that if i pay for it today that i can have the shoplifting charge lifted?

What are you exact charges?
As for having a charge lifted, that is now in the hands of the DA.
Re: Throwing .79 Cent Soda on Store Clerk
Here's a little story for you.
Had you thrown that soda on me, you could have ruined my hearing aids. Aside from all the charges (and I would have made sure they pressed Assault on you), I would be suing you in Civil Court for all the costs associated with replacing my hearing aids....$3000+....
Think about that before you physically assault a store worker again....
Re: Throwing .79 Cent Soda on Store Clerk
I was also hoping for some supportive reply's.
I am young 21 years old and have never done such a thing in my life. I have the potential to a really good career and i wouldn't want something so petty to ruin my entire life. Can you all offer me any advice?.
It is a shoplifting charge that i am conerned about.

You don't seem to get this.
This isn't petty. You need an attorney. NOW.

Re: Throwing .79 Cent Soda on Store Clerk
think of it as tough love. That's support too. It's just a different kind and it usually gets the point across better than coddling.
You were asked to post the specific charges. there should be a code # or statute #.
