No Money from Unemployment
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Florida
I filed for unemployment because my office was closed down due to bought by bigger company. I filed on time, received my eligibility letter, claimed my first time, received a letter when to claim again and I have not yet received any money from them. I have tried calling the unemployment office and you never get a live person, they say that all operators are busy. I have called different days at different times and get the same message. Then they say if you want more options press 5 and when you do it hangs up on you. I have three kids and one with autism, rent and bills to pay and my husbands salary isn't enough. What should be my next step.
Re: No Money from Unemployment
How long has it been since you filed?
In my state, which is not yours, a perfectly clean claim in which there is no possible question of the employee qualifying, in which all the information required is provide the first try and in which the employer responds immediately to the UI office's notice, it will still take three to four weeks between when you file and when you get your first check, no matter what you do or who you call. It will take longer if all of the above factors are not true. Most states I am familiar with are the same. However, keep certifying every week because once the processing is complete, you will receive back pay for every week that you certified.
