What to Do with Juvenile Shoplifting
My question involves criminal law for the state of: VA
My daughter(15yrs) was caught shoplifting for the first time today, before she had a clean record and is a pretty good student in school.
She will be recieveing a letter to go to court. My question is what will most likely be the charges, and will she have to be sent to jail or just probation , community service, and a fine? Please answer.
Re: What to Do with Juvenile Shoplifting
You'd do well to get your daughter an attorney.
With the help of an attorney, she may qualify for pre-trial diversion, which entails fines, restitution, anti-shoplifting classes, and a period of probation. If she completes all the terms of the program without further scrapes with the law, typically the charge won't even appear on her record.
