Can I Be Emancipated
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Georgia
Hi, I want to know if i qualify for emancipation by the rules and laws of Georgia, I am 14 year pld 8th grade student and am a member of the gifted classes. I am a baby sitter and make a steady pay off that. I plan to move in with the person who raised me, I was not rasied by my father. My reasons are as follows: I have better source to my job, I have better acessability to my education and extra curicular activitys, as I plan to move in with my grandmother who is disabiltyed and has 2room mates with a daughter who is a Special ed student and a adopted daughter who is 5 and by blood her grand daughter. I turn 15 and get my learners soon and will be able to drive her to her doctors appointment and I mainly wish to move in with her to help her and get away from my father, who in all truth is not a good father, all he cares about is keeping his new happy at the expense of his 2 sons.
Knowing I am 14 have a job and have a good reasons to be Emancipated do I qualify? And can i file for the emancipation without my father knowing until the last moment possible?

Re: Can I Be Emancipated
No State will emancipate a 14 year old.
Have you read the other threads about emancipation?

Re: Can I Be Emancipated
You need to be at least 16 years old to be emancipated in Georgia.

Re: Can I Be Emancipated
Well, there is ONE state that will *consider* emancipating a 14 year old in very special circumstances, but that state is not GA and those circumstances do not apply here.
So it can be truthfully said that this poster does not qualify to be emancipated in any state.
BTW, poster, you do not have good reasons for emancipation as far as the law is concerned.
