Is Pretrial Diversion a Good Option
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
Alright, well long story short I am interested in getting more information than my lawyer is telling me about this pre-trial diversion program. This is concerning a felony that has been blown totally out of proportion, and a first time offender. I personally want to know the specifics of this program as I want to be a police officer. My lawyer was saying expungement is possible, but of course not promised. I wish that I could go into more details about the case but the message above says it's not wise.. so hopefully this is enough information to get some answers, suggestions, and or helpful comments.
Feel free to ask questions.
Re: Is Pretrial Diversion a Good Option
Pretrial diversion is usually a good option. As you have a lawyer, you should discuss the benefits of pretrial diversion or other possible dispositions with your lawyer.
Expungement is possible following a deferred disposition to a Class C misdemeanor, or following a pardon for any other offense. Perhaps your lawyer meant that you would be eligible to have the record sealed? If you're being offered a deal to resolve a felony with a plea to a deferred Class C misdemeanor, that would be a difficult deal to reject.
