When Must You Keep a Car in a Divorce
My question involves a marriage in the state of: Louisiana
3 years ago my husband bought a car in his name only. I have mostly paid the note on it and drive it 75% of the time bec he had a truck. He would use the car on the weekends to get his kids out of town. Now we are filing for divorce. Can I give him back the car without being responsible for it? He doesn't want it back bec he says he doesn't need 2 vehicles but it's in his name and I would like to have a car in my own name and a lower monthly note. I just need to know if I have to keep this one legally or if i can just tell him to keep it. Thanks in advance.
Re: When Must You Keep a Car in a Divorce
If the car is in his name and the loan is in his name, it's his car and his loan. If he doesn't want the car, talk to him about selling it.
