Emancipation in New Jersey
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: New Jersey
I am enrolled in online high school, so I will most likely finish before I turn 18. I will probably be 17. As soon as I am done with it, can I legally move out of my parents house without my parents consent. I will probably start college a year after but I just don't want to live with my parents (personal reasons). I want to know because if I just leave I don't want them to call the police and have them bring me back to them.
Re: Emancipation in New Jersey
The short answer is "no".
You cannot leave home without your parents' permission.

exactly why can't I?
Re: Emancipation in New Jersey
Because you'll still be a minor.
If you graduate at 18, that's different. But at 17, you're still under - no matter when you graduate high school - the complete care and control of your parents.
(Before you ask, you don't qualify for emancipation)

You did post this under the "emancipation" section :)
Re: Emancipation in New Jersey
When (or if) you graduate from high school has nothing whatsoever to do with when you are considered a legal adult by law.
