ok the person is 14 years of age and was stealing a 2 dollar beer the cop came and arrested him and he is now awaiting a court date i am curious as to what the charges and sentencing will be.

The charges will most likely be what I posted previously. However, because he is a juvenile the punishment will be handled differently.

In Washington, juvenile crimes are ranked by letters (A-E) according to the offence that they committed. There are other factors, such as: Previous record, attempting to do a crime, actually committing the crime....

The rating of "A", "B", or "C" crimes are the most serious (felonies). The punishment for those ranked offences, the offender most likely will serve time in a juvenile detention facility.

The crimes rated "D" and "E" are more likely to be considered violations. The offender most likely would NOT serve time in a juvenile faciltiy.

    ------------------

Minor in possession of alcohol is a class E offense.

The punishment--You will receive “local sanctions” which may include: up to 30 days in jail, up to 12 months of community supervision, up to 150 hours of community services and/or up to a $500 fine. Your license may also be revoked for up to one year or until you turn seventeen, whichever is longer.

The chart I found doesn't list "Theft in the third degree", it does list "Theft in the second degree" as a Class C violation. So I can only give you my opinion on that charge, which IMO it would be a Class D, but it might be a Class E as well. That would carry a similar punishment as above or a bit harsher if it is a Class D.

If the store is going to pursue a civil fine against you, it would be as follows:

    RCW 4.24.230

    (2) The parent or legal guardian having the custody of an unemancipated minor who takes possession of any goods, wares, or merchandise displayed or offered for sale by any wholesale or retail store or other mercantile establishment without the consent of the owner or seller and with the intention of converting such goods, wares, or merchandise to his own use without having paid the purchase price thereof, shall be liable as a penalty to the owner or seller for the retail value of such goods, wares, or merchandise not to exceed five hundred dollars plus an additional penalty of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than two hundred dollars, plus all reasonable attorney's fees and court costs expended by the owner or seller.....

    ________________

In addition, if you are convicted, you will have a criminal record.

Your juvenile criminal offenses will remain on your record unless you request from the court that your records be sealed.

No one can say for sure, but it is a possibility.
