    Dog Attacked by Another Dog
My question involves injury or loss that occurred in the state of: Michigan

My dog was attacked by a neighbors dog and required medical attention. I think the dog owner is responsible - would this be correct?

My son (adult) was riding a bike with our dog and passed the neighbors house. Their dog jumped the fence and attacked my dog. My dog needed surgery and other medical attention and required an overnight stay at the emergency vet. She will require follow up with my vet as well.

    Thanks!

was your dog on a leash or somehow within the control of your son?

Yes, my dog was leashed and in full control of my son at the time.

Try making a claim with the person's homeowner's insurance (if they'll cooperate). If not, here's information on small claims court.

Yes, my dog was leashed and in full control of my son at the time.

then yes, it is almost assuredly the liability of the other dog's owner.
