J1 Visa Holder Married to F1 Visa Holder
Hello,
I am a bit unaware of the visa procedures in US, would appreciate some help.
Me and my wife will be pursuing a Graduate studies in US in this fall. The case is that I will be entering the country with F1 visa and my wife will be getting J1 visa, since she won a government scholarship to finance the studies. My intention is to stay and work in US after post education. My question : is there any chance to avoid that 2 year home residency requirement for my wife, and let her stay in US after we complete our studies?
Thanks
Re: J1- Visa Holder Married to F1 Visa Holder
I think it's a bit early to get a legal coverage. we are split between the decision whether to get a J1 visa for my wife, in this case we save around 100,000$ in tuition fees. or get a F1 visa for her , in this case we have to cover education fees ourselves. I just want to hear a suggestion whether that will be possible or not.

Sorry about that - the thread got hit by a spammer.
If your wife's visa is subject ot the two year home residency requirement and she wishes to obtain an immigrant visa before that period expires, she will need a waiver. If she qualifies for a F1 visa she can apply for one, and can obtain one to continue her studies, postponing the home country residency requirement.

I don't really get it, after she have received a J1 visa and completed her education. How can she apply for F1 visa after that?
