Unpaid Leave and Eligibility for Unemployment Insurance
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: New York

I am a teacher and received a termination notice effective June 2012. I have been working at this job for over three years. I am due to have a baby at the end of September 2011 and would like to know if I can take 12 weeks maternity leave (6 weeks paid and 6 unpaid) and still be eligible for unemployment when my job is terminated.

Is it possible to take more than 12 weeks and still be eligible for UI?

How many consecutive weeks do I have to work to be eligible for unemployment?

    Thank you for your help.
