Noise Issue at Apartment Complex
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Alabama
I moved in around August of 2010. Very quiet complex at first. No hanging out, no noisy neighbors then all of a sudden about 2 months ago i noticed a lot of people moving out and others moving in. come to find out it's now a low income complex while at the same time normal rent is about to be increased. As i type this i can hear the music from next door word for word. a little across from me it seems to be about 10-15 people hanging out, drinking, screaming and talking loud and it's 9 pm on a Sunday night. this seems to be happening way more frequently as time passes. I dont know if i have a choice now however if i knew this was going to turn into low income housing i would have never moved here. Do i have any options or do i have to wait this out until my lease is over? I have no beef with low income housing or the people who need it however it's making my living experience extremely uncomfortable. I actually need to use the washing area to wash clothes however i'd have to make way through all those people with the loud music and all. I didnt sign up for this. help..
Re: Noise Issue at Apartment Complex
If tenants are being too loud or disruptive, ask your landlord to address the situation. If they're violating local noise ordinances you may also call the police.
Having a noisy neighbor does not result in your receiving an automatic release from your lease.
