Wage Garnishment and Can Not Locate the Judgement
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Georgia. My husband has just had his wages garnished from a voluntary repossession 10-11 years ago. They froze his bank account and garnished it about 3 years ago. We have not used it since and now they are garnishing his pay check. We are now a family of 7 and he is the only one working. They are taking 25% when we already live paycheck to pay check. We have tried to make a deal and spoke to the lawyer (only phone number provided with his work) he said there is nothing he can do garnishment is in play. So we have no information on this, no amount, no judgment papers, no garnishment papers nothing. They sent a letter when we were out of town and if was sent back through the post office. We Called the court house, Well three Court houses each say the other has the judgment no one knows were it is. How can I get a copy and what steps can I take from here.
Re: Wage Garnishment and Can Not Locate the Judgement
Your husband should know the court in which he was sued; his court file should be in that court. His employer should also have a copy of the wage garnishment order, and that order should identify the court. This isn't something we can investigate for you.
