Caught Shoplifting in Pa. First Time Offense
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania
Today I was caught for shoplifting in Wal-mart. The total of the items was for 16 dollars and some change. I was sat down and asked for my information. I am not a resident of PA I am just going here for school. My ID is from IL. The police were called and I was asked if this was a valid address on my ID. It's not anymore and I gave them the address of where I live. I wasn't finger printed or asked to sign anything. All they kept mentioning was a Civil demand letter.
Will any of this be on my record? Can it hinder me from getting a job in the future? What is my best form of action?

In PA you will receive a letter instructing you to appear for fingerprinting.

Even if i'm not being charged criminally? I wasn't given a citation from the officer just asked a few questions and to my knowledge he didn't write anything down about me.

As the officer showed up, likely a report was written and forwarded to the Prosecutors office. Keep an eye on the mail, you may get a court date.
Also, a Civil Demand notice will arrive. This is separate from the Criminal Charges. Expect $200+ (minimum and maximum amounts vary by state).

The criminal charges may take months. Last time I was talking to someone in Berks County it was like three months before they saw the paper.
