Shoplifting in North Carolina at JCpenney
I got caught shoplifting at JCpenney...1st offence criminal in United States...I'm a legal permanent resident with a green card for 8 years...I guess I have to get an attorney involved...I already have a court date...

1- When I go to court...can they know about another offence that happened 20 years ago in Canada?

2- What is the best that can happen and what is the worst.

3 - Would I face deportation? If yes...what would happened to my 2 young children that were born in United States

    Thanks for your response....very concerned
    Any help is very appreciated

    Guilty Or Not Guilty
Re: Shoplifting in North Carolina at JCpenney
I would advise you to retain a personal attorney if you can afford one. If not, go with a court appointed attorney. Let the attorney talk to the DA to see if they can agree on a punishment you would accept.

If the Canada offense is a felony, there will be a good chance of the court finding out. If it is a misdemeanor, there is a very low chance.
