Wrongly Accused of Larceny by a Customer
My question involves criminal law for the state of: ct

first i would like to say thankyou in advance.

i am a custom fabricator. we build items for rvs~boats etc.
let me just state the word custom. we start out from scratch and custom build all our compontents on a one by one basis for each job. no 2 jobs are alike.
with over 1000 builds i have a couple that are haunting me.
it started with a customer bringing in his project. we agreed to a price and i filled out the paper work and took a 4000.00 deposit. i then buy all the material and get started on the build. just to remind you when we build these they will not work on any other project.
so after the first build the customer changes his mind and i work on the second build. no more money was exchanged. after the second build was underway he then changed his mind and wanted me to build a third . after a few words were exchanged and i stated i would have to charge more he simply left my shop in a huff.

the next morning i came in to find his boat missing. he came in the middle of the night and retrieved his boat. i notified the local police and told them the whole story and i even tried to return all the stuff he had me build. after all they are no good to me. the police state that it is a civil matter. i say ok and leave it at that. this guy owns a big dealership in the same town. and knows the police very well. all of a sudden i have the police call me to tell me he will pick up his 4000.oo deposit and deliver it to him. i wasn't havn't it and decided to call my lawyer. he told me it was wrong and indeed was a civil matter. so the police call me several days later stating they are trying to get a warrant for larc 3rd. it took 9 weeks and they did. i have been back to court 13 times. i have had issues with several people pulling the plug half way through a job and i simply won't give them money back on custom built items. now remember this is several out of over 1000+ i have built. mind you all customer complaints have been time issues . while i state that in the beginning. i also wait on other custom products that belong with mine on a certain job. all dates are tentetive. this is over several years btw.
now i get out of court only to find out i have 6 more warrants pending waiting to possibly be signed. my lawyer friends and many others have concluded that this guy has either recruited friends or has found away to get 6 people to file a complaint. this guy is very good friends with the local police and owns a marina.
i guess my question is what should i do. nobody can figure out why this is in criminal court when it belongs in civil. i thought about hiring a pi to investigate the whole thing this guys relationship with the local police. and the prosecuter hangs out with them.
it just is to weird that all this is coming down at the same time. i along with a bunch of others including retired cops lawyers and more all smell a fish.
i will fill you in on more as i left alot out on this dirt bag .

You've been working with your lawyer from the outset, and it makes sense to continue to work with your lawyer. If you recall the officer you spoke with about the incident back when it first happened, be sure to convey that information to your lawyer and, if a report was made, get a copy of the report.

We cannot investigate the case for you. We have no way of looking into your suspicions that this person somehow managed to get six or more of your past customers to file police reports alleging theft.

    thanks.

my question is why all of a sudden?

and why when i asked the police they said it was a civil matter.
then all of a sudden its criminal.
and the police never asked my side of the story.

4 lawyers and every one i know said it does not belong in criminal court.

    Re: Right or Wrong
You had a customer who took his own boat back after a dispute over the services you were providing.

Your customer has apparently alleged that you took money through acts of fraud or misrepresentation. You know what the customer alleged; we only know what you tell us and you haven't told us.
