What are the Laws for Emancipation
my boyfriends mother is verbally and mentally abusive and i was wondering what some specific laws for emanciption in the state of texas i should b aware of so i can be succsessful in encouraging him to get out of that situation by showing him facts and a plan.
Re: What Are Some Specific Laws I Should Know About Emancipation
How old is he? In Texas it makes a difference. As you would know if you had read the stickies as instructed.
BTW, "verbally and mentally abusive" is almost never a valid reason for emancipation, EVEN IF he meets the other qualifications.

Read the stickied threads. - the ones you were instructed to read before posting.
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
he is 16 and it also physical. he doesn't feel its a big deal but i do.
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
Not to sound mean, but the courts won't care what YOU think.
Did you read the stickies, or are you just going to stomp your foot and argue?
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
yes i read them and yes i am aware that the courts do not care what i think. Also i am not a typical teen i shall sit and listen to what is said and consider my options in this situation. Plus I know that arguing with people that know more about a subject than i do is completely illogical so what would be the purpose of doing it?
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
If the child is being abused, child protective services needs to be involved.
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
ok but i am curious as to which would b easier to do and honestly less painful because, although child protective services might take him out of his situation he would then b placed in a foster home till he turns 18 correct?
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
Very possibly, yes.
Seriously - emancipation is NOT an option for this child.
Either he's being abused and thus needs to be removed from the home...or he isn't.
Re: What are the Laws for Emancipation
okay. In all honesty what would be a definite reason to be emancipated because as far as I have read your reason cannot be just because nor abuse?
