Towing Due to Snow Plowing in Apartment Complex with Parking Permits
My question involves towing laws for the State of: Mankato

Hi, Thanks in advance. I live in Highland hills apartment in Mankato. I have a parking permit and I have parked in a normal place. I received a note (last night around 11 pm) saying they are plowing snow and wanted me to take my car out. I tried to take it out at that time but the car did not started due to the whether.. They have towed my car today. I told them that my car want start, what can I do about i? The note did not say anything about towing. They called me at the time of towing and wanted me to come. But I couldn't because I have class at that time. But I told them that I tried to start the car but it want start, so please do not tow. But they have towed it to a another place in apartment complex. Please tell me what can i do? I have to pay $50 for towing charges for the apartment.

it's not their fault you couldn't get your car started and didn't take the additional effort to get it started. At least it didn't get towed to an impound lot. Pay the fee and figure out what's wrong with your car so it doesn't happen the same way again.

    Thank you for your reply.
But my concern is, is it legal what they did. Due to the fact that they did not in inform me about towing and I do have a parking permit.
    Thanks

is there anything in your lease about rules of use of the parking areas? Does it say anything about the management plowing the lot?

If there is nothing that can be construed as they are allowed to move your car in the situation such as yours, I would tend to argue they had no legal right to tow the vehicle. I suspect they will find something that will have allowed the tow.
