    Trespassing After Shoplifting
My question involves criminal law for the state of: MO

Almost a year ago I was arrested for shoplifting in a department store. They said I was banned from the store but never said for how long. And I wasn't sure if it was just that store or all of their locations. What does anyone think?
The probation I got was for a year and on the "ticket" it said "stay away from the store." So I guess it's for a year?

What would happen if I went into the store (at a different location). Do they have a picture of me that security uses or what?

Also, does anyone know what kind of background checks this will show up on? My lawyer said that it would not go on my record.
    Thanks!

I would suspect it was at all locations of the brand of store and it is until notified otherwise.

The ticket and your penalty through the courts has nothing to do with what the store can do. They actually can ban you forever.

If you went into a store that you have been banned from and recognized, you would likely be arrested for trespassing. Your penalty would be up to the courts.

Unless you got some sort of diversion through the courts, I see no reason it wouldn't show up on a criminal records search. Some stores also subscribe to a national database where convicted shoplifters are put on a list for all other subscribers to see.
If you want to go back to that store, I would either attempt to contact the management in that store of the corporate offices for that brand of store and inquire concerning their position on the matter.

Corporate offices is best. The individual location doesn't have much say.
