Married in Mass., live in CA. Where do I file for Divorce
I was married in Mass.in the late 80's. We changed our minds the day of the wedding,in fact my marriage was never consummated. We lost touch a few months after the marriage. Until now it never really was a concern, however I am about to buy a home with another person and have been advised that now is the time to actually get a divorce. I live in Ca. and really have no idea where my husband is. Am I actually even married? If so, can I file for a divorce here in CA?

    My response:

Yes, you're "actually" married! If you were married under the laws of MA, then you bet, you're married.

As long as you've lived in California for at least 6 months, and in your county of residence for at least 3 months, then you can file your Petition in your local courthouse.
