Pink Summons in NYC
My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY
I received a pink summons from MTA PD in Penn Station for disorderly conduct. I had been getting food and was cut in line and said excuse me I was before you, and the man behind the counter just looked at me, smirked and turned back to the other guy. I then (stupidly...i had been drinking a little earlier on and can't stop myself sometimes) said it was discrimination as I was the only caucasian present. I wasn't intending to sound racist or cause a stir, I just wanted to be treated fairly. (I did not use any obscene language or racial slurs.) A girl from the other side of the room got up and came and punched me in the face, causing me to break my nose. The MTA cops issued us both summons for this - I'm not sure how I can plead in this case, or if I can get an ACD - is that possible and how do I go about it?
Also, if I don't send in my summons ticket to plead not guilty, is there a way to do so when I show up to court (in April)? I've been at the ER and had doctors appointments and pre-op preparations.
Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated, and please remember, I am not a racist person nor did I use any obscene language or racial slurs.

Re: Pink Summons in NYC
If you cannot attend the scheduled court date, go to the court and have the date changed before you miss it. It's usually pretty easy to do in advance. Blow off court and you can expect a bench warrant.
I suggest consulting a local criminal defense lawyer.
