    On Parole and Got Violated
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

My boyfriend is on parole, right after he got out the halfway house his mother had brain surgery(she live in another state) after her surgery she went home but someone had to be there with her for seven days while she was on the medication they gave her. He went to take care of her, he did not ask his PO if he could go. On the way back to MI he got a speeding ticket. Now 9 months later he visit his PO his PO brings up this incident and violates him, and come to find out the rental car that he took to NC it was in another convicted felon's name. He has court in 2 weeks, I'M writing to see if there is a chance that he could not go to jail?

If he brings some kind of documentation from his mother's attending physician, it would help. Why was he driving a rental car rented by someone else. The inference the court will make is that since it was rented by a convicted felon, that your boyfriend has been associating with convicted felons which is most likely a violation of his parole as well.

Was he the only person that could have taken care of her? There are no other relatives or home care that could have done it?

We can't predict what will happen but all he can do is go in and tell his side. He should have notified his PO as soon as he returned to the state. If it was truly an emergency, the PO might have cut him some slack.
