    Immigration Hold While in Jail
    Hello,

My boyfriend was just sentenced for one year and a half and convicted of two felonies. Bail jumping and Direct sale of controlled substance (a small amount). His criminal lawyer did not think the immigration would put an hold on him. But they did as soon as he was sentenced. It is his first felonies, he has been here since he is 12 as a permanent resident. He is now 37. Both parents are citizens. he left his home country at 4, went to Europe then the States. What are his chance of fighting the removal procedures. I am myself a naturalized citizen, but on probation for the same thing. So not allowed to leave. Not the best situation, we jut want to find a way to be together.

Honestly? His chances of fighting deportation are very, very slim. I'd go as far as saying "virtually nil".

If he's to stand a chance, he needs a very good Immigration attorney.
