    17-Year-Old Ran Away to Grandparents
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Michigan.
My 17 year old daughter decided to pack her things and move to her grandparents because she doesn't like the rules at home. I have told her she needs to come home but she wont. Can I leagally take action. Maybe declare her a runaway?

Sure you can. Call police and report her as a runaway. Tell them you know the identity of who may be harboring her against the legal authority of her parents. Then, be prepared for a few things to happen. First, police will let the grandparents know that harboring a runaway can result in criminal charges against them. Then, they'll bring her home. Then, the NEXT time she runs away, odds that you'll know where she is or how to get her back start to plummet rapidly. I'm not advocating to do nothing, only to understand that as running away goes, running to a grandparent is the lesser of a lot of other potential evils, and that avenues of letting a little time pass and communicating with the grandparents, rather than just brute force of involving law enforcement, may produce a better outcome at the end of the day.
