Charged with Shoplifting - Can It Be Dismissed
My question involves criminal law for the state of: North Carolina
I found this post by member: fivedogslater
i was recntly charged with a nc gs that covers shoplifting by concealment. i believe it gs 14.72(a). the person pressing the charges recently agreed to dismiss all the charges against me (yay!) i have no previous criminal record. will this show up on my record? if so, what is this process for the one time expungment that nc offers? thanks
My question: how can I get my charges dismissed before my court date? My citation was also a "gs 14.72a". This is the first time I have ever done this or any criminal act for that matter. I am 25 and stole items worth $180.
Thank you for any advice with this issue.

As is explained in countless threads, consult a local lawyer about whether your county offers deferrals or diversion programs for shoplifters and if you qualify. You may be able to find information on the county court website or the prosecutor's website.
