What Happens to a Minor Charged with Possession of Marijuana in Arizona
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Arizona

My younger brother just got a letter saying he's been charged with possession of marijuana and needs to appear in court next month. He's an adult now, but at the time, he was a minor.

I'm only asking here because google hasn't helped, but could he really face jail time over this? I know Arizona is ridiculously serious about marijuana possession, the laws here are so backwards and unethical.

I don't know all the details, I think it's a felony charge for possession of marijuana and maybe a pipe or whatever else he and his friends had with them. What is the absolute worst thing he could get sentenced with?

I'm so afraid such a small thing could ruin his future, and I can't find answers anywhere else. If someone here could help me out, I'd me so grateful!

You can read about AZ's marijuana laws here. Note that the penalties fall within ranges, so depending on what the exact charges are, it could fall anywhere in between.

He should be consulting an attorney.

Thanks, that does help a little. But what I was looking for was information about minors specifically. Would the punishment differ at all because he was a minor at the time?
