How Do You Know If You're Dealing With a Junk Debt Buyer or the Credit Card Company
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Michigan
I have received a summons for a credit card debt. I sent a request for validation
to the first two CA's. Then an attorney in my state took on the debt. I ask for
a DV and they sent me a summons. How do you know if you are dealing with a
junk dealer or the real credit card company's lawyer? If I settle with the lawyer,
will I still owe the credit card company. My credit report says, "charger off."

If the plaintiff is the original creditor, the plaintiff is the original creditor. If the plaintiff is not the original creditor, it's reasonable to infer that it's an entity that acquired the debt from the original creditor.
