How to Prepare for Chapter 13
My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: California
For the initial consultation, what type of paperwork are required or necessary?
    What will I expect?
What type of questions are normally asked?
What should I be aware of when meeting with a bankruptcy lawyer?

I'm in a difficult position. Possibly an ultimatum. I just want to clear my name from my mother's house so I would have no part of it. She wants to file chapter 13. She has an appointment for a free consultation & would like for me to go with her incase she may miss any information or that I may have some questions that would be in my best interest.

I want my name out of the house. (Why? I have my own family now)
I don't want to be responsible for 2 different households because I can't afford it.
At the time the house was first bought, I didn't ask my parents to put my name on the house. My parents didn't have a choice because I was the only one employeed. My father retired & my mother is on disability. Never did it cross my mind that I would be married with kids but now that I am, what choice do I have?

Your lawyer's office will typically indicate what you should bring to your consultation. They may have a checklist, or a checklist and a questionnaire. They will want to know about your financial circumstances, assets, income and debts.
