Divorce After Entering a Bigamous Marriage
My question involves a marriage in the state of: Nevada and California. How do my boyfriend and i find out which marriage, if either one, is valid. He married his first wife here in ca. They seperated. Years later he married his second wife in nevada but never legally divorced the first wife. Him and the second wife seperate and she ends up remarrying, but doesn't file for divorce first. After years go by, we find out that my boyfriends first wife had legally divorced him a quite a few years after he had married his second wife. So is he legally married to the second wife?
Re: Divorce After Entering a Bigamous Marriage
If he wants to resolve the issue of his second marriage, such that he is free to marry you, he should either file for divorce or petition to annul his second marriage on the basis that he committed the crime of bigamy. Given that he may not want to admit in court to that crime, divorce is not an unreasonable option.
