Marijuana Distribution Charge Consequences
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Rhode island
If someone is charged with distribution of marijuana or simply conspiracy, what is the likely outcome for someone with a squeaky clean record and a good lawyer? Are those charges felonies or misdemeanors? Also what kind of careers are still available for someone who may incur charges such as these
Re: Marijuana Distribution Charges in Ri/Rammifications on Job Opportunities
It is almost impossible to guess at what the likely outcome is. There are far too many variables. It depends on where you were (i,e, near a school) and how much you had. Distribution is always a felony in RI. A good lawyer may be able to plea that down to something else with a squeaky clean client.
Career wise...a felony conviction selling drugs will pretty much kill any hopes for law enforcement or anything gov't related that requires a security clearance. The charge alone, regardless of what you wind up pleading guilty to or bening convicted of, will be enough to disqualify you for some agencies in the above fields.
