    Sex Offender Right of Association
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oregon.
Concerning a registered sex offender sentenced to 5 years probation for statuary sodomy 2, after completion of probation what are the limits, if any, on the offender's right to associate with minors and/or the adult victim?

The offender will have to check to see if he falls under any civil commitment laws and, if so, how that may affect his future conduct. We don't know anything beyond what you've posted, so it would be pretty dangerous for the offender to assume that we could give him a green light.

What further information might I provide that would enable a more detailed answer?

Nothing you say could allow us to tell the sex offender that he has no risk. If he wants that type of assessment he needs to consult a lawyer with the details of his case.

Thanks for your response. I'm not asking to be told that there is no risk. I'm asking for an assessment of the conditions placed upon an offender registrant. To simplify things, just for a moment, consider that no civil commitment laws would apply (because in this case I don't think they would). Then, within a reasonable order of probability what might the restrictions against association be in the state of Oregon?

If we assume that there is no legal reason he can't associate with whomever he pleases, then there's no legal reason he can't associate with whomever he pleases. That's entirely circular - the assumption dictates the answer. If he wants an answer that is based on fact and not on assumption, he still needs to consult a lawyer with the details of his case.

The offender has to follow the terms the sex offender laws in state and whatever terms were in his probation.
