Charged with Disturbing the Peace and the Keep of a Noisy and Disorderly House
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Massachusetts

As it says in the title, I was charged with disturbing the peace, and the keep of a noisy and disorderly house. This is in Massachusetts.

    Background:

I hosted a large college party which became out of hand, someone pulled a knife on the property, a friend of mine called the police, the police arrived, kicked everyone out of the house, and I was asked a few basic questions. The officer told me I would receive a court summons in the mail, though I would have no alcohol charges because I was cooperative.

I went to a probable cause hearing, where an officer read a statement basically saying there were about 150 students in the basement, with a paid DJ, and there were potential criminal activities such as drug deals occurring on the property. He basically made it out to be as bad as he possibly could. The assistant judge said there was enough evidence to continue on, so now I have an arraignment hearing scheduled.

This will be my FIRST offence, I have a 100% perfectly clean record. I am 19 years old.

Basically, I know I should hire a lawyer, and I'm asking for any advise you guys can give me. With a decent lawyer, and this being my first offence, what do you think I'm looking at?

    * Also, on the form it told me to arrive a half our early to the probation office, is that normal?

    Thank you guys very much.

You're charged with violating this statute? You're talking about a single charge or two charges?

Quoting MGL Chapter 272: Section 53. Penalty for certain offenses

    (b) Disorderly persons and disturbers of the peace, for the first offense, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $150. On a second or subsequent offense, such person shall be punished by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than 6 months, or by a fine of not more than $200, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

On what form, with the meeting to be held for what purpose? I would not expect the probation office to interview you unless it was making a sentence recommendation.

    Thank you for your response.

I was charged with two offences.

    1.) 272/53/G Disturbing the peace
    2.) 272/53/I Noisy & Disorderly House, Keep

And it said on the Summons to defendant sheet that I should meet at the probation office a half hour before my scheduled arraignment
