Sembie, you should know better. While there may not be any record of a conviction, the arrest records persist and expungement can remove those as well.

You have a point about arrest records, but I understand the OP's description to mean that there was no custodial arrest. Only a citation was issued. So, assuming that she completes the diversion program, at worst she has a record of having a citation issued and then dismissed, which is no big deal. I would not advise anyone to bother trying to expunge that. Perhaps there is a way to expunge the record of the citation itself under North Carolina law, but I doubt it is worth the trouble or expense. If this really bothers the OP she can consult a North Carolina lawyer but at least at this time her financial resources sound very limited.
thanks for all of the responses :) I was not aware that the expungement would not be necessary, but since I was not arrested, I guess it does make sense. That will save me a lot of money when it comes down to it, so thanks!
