What is My Right to Procreate
My question involves civil rights in the State of: Ohio
Right to Procreate.
A discussion in our office arose about the number of kids we are allowed to have.
It is to my understanding that if there are no restrictions set by the state then you can have as many as you can afford.
Does anyone know the law on this (or constitutional rights/ fundemental rights)????

the sad part:

you can have as many as you can afford.
even that isn't a requirement.
You can pop 'em out like mice if you so desire. It would be nice if people would limit it to those they can afford but that just simply not going to happen.

I live in Ohio also, but it applies in all states, a state can NOT restrict the # of children you can have, and it is very constitutionally RARE, when a state can order sterilization.
One case I always cite when some say the Declaration of Independence is not part of the Constitution, in a way it is, as we have the "right to pursue happiness". The case attempted to define what a LIBERTY is under the 14th AM.
Snip from Meyer v. Nebraska, US SC:
While this Court has not attempted to define with exactness the liberty thus guaranteed, the term has received much consideration and some of the included things have been definitely stated. Without doubt, it denotes not merely freedom from bodily restraint, but also the right of the individual to contract, to engage in any of the common occupations of life, to acquire useful knowledge, to marry, establish a home and bring up children, to worship God according to the dictates of his own conscience, and generally to enjoy those privileges long recognized at common law as essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men.
You have a federal constitutional right to have as many children as you want.
Re: What is My Right to Procreate
science will change this in the future perhaps .... (same sex partners making an offspring?) .. maybe the courts will rule it has an effect on interstate commerce lol - it seems to be the buzz-word in court nowadays
