Would I Be Able to Be Emancipated
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of:Pennsylvania.
I am 17 years old turning 18 in October and have recently been through a lot within the past few months with deaths and just all sorts of frustration and I find that it will be easier for me to live on my own,I have a job, my Junior year of online schooling for high school, and my boyfriend who is 18 has an apartment so i would have a place to live. How would I go about being emancipated? Like what all is required.
Re: Would I Be Able to Be Emancipated
PA does not have a state statute allowing for the emancipation of a minor; the requirements would be county-specific.
But it's probably moot - the court will not emancipate you in order for you to go and live with your boyfriend.
Re: Would I Be Able to Be Emancipated
Nor will they emancipate you for the reasons you state. Nor will they emancipate you unless you can demonstrate that you are capable of supporting yourself ENTIRELY. That means that you, and you alone (your bf's income will NOT be counted) are able to pay 100% of the rent, food, clothing, utilities, transportation, medical care, insurance, school fees and supplies, and all the other incidentals of life. If you cannot, then all the reasons in the world will not be enough for the state to approve your emancipation, even assuming that your county will consider doing so (not all counties in PA will).
