Can I Obtain a RN License in Ohio with an Expunged Felony Record
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Ohio In 1975 I was convicted of Illegal procurement of narcotic drugs. I recently had this record expunged. I have had no other convictions of any kind since then. I am now in school to become an RN and would like to know if my past will prevent me from obtaining a license in this field?
Re: Can I Obtain a RN License in Ohio with an Expunged Felony Record
The crimes that preclude any licensure in Ohio are aggravated murder, murder, voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, kidnapping, rape, sexual battery, gross sexual imposition, aggravated arson, aggravated robbery, or aggravated burglary. See O.R.C. 4723.281. I would expect that your criminal history is going to result in additional investigation of your character, fitness and sobriety, but if the board is satisfied with your character and fitness at the end of its investigation it does not appear to otherwise prevent you from obtaining a license.
