    Caught Shoplifting in Arizona
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arizona

Last week i was caught shoplifting in kohls in arizona. I stole $120 dollars worth of stuff but when i was caught i was very cooperative. Im 18 and do not have any criminal backround and this is my very first offense for shoplifting. Im a full time student at ASU and have a part time job. So im really not a bad person i just made a dumb and childish decision. I reget it a lot. I have done research and it says i will have to pay the fines and for the goods. But other people in forums have said that i am going to get probabtion and what not. Im leaving on vacation next month and i paid for mg plane ticket months ago. I know if i get probation i cant leave the state. I am very worried. what do you think my punishment will be? and if you think probabtion is there a way to get around the out of state thing. PLease help, i fell so stressed and horrible :(

If you are good standing with the probation (i.e., you're current on paying your fees and haven't broken any of the rules), getting authorization from the probation office to travel is usually straightforward. The wheels of justice aren't that fast. Chances are you won't even go to court before this trip.
Were the police involved or just Kohl's LP/security?

my court date is actually this upcoming wednesday. i dont leave until the end of december. and yes both were involved. I got booked and everything but went home right afterwards.

Also do you think the chances of probabtion are pretty high? what do you think they will give to me as a punishment?

ASU has legal assistance available to students. I advise you to make use of it:
