Credit Card Debts in Divorce
My husband and I have been married in California for 1.25 years and are now getting a divorce. During our marriage (and even before the marriage) we used my credit cards to pay for everything from buying gasoline and food to furniture, gifts, and trips. My credit card is in my name only and, of course, I had to sign for everything. We even used my cards for our wedding which were all charged before the wedding date.
My questions are:
What are my rights in getting my husband to pay half of my credit card debt?
Does that also include interest charges? Also since charges included things like food and gas, will those also be included as community property debt or does community property mean something tangible? Thanks for your help.
