Can You Be Caught Weeks After Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia.....my friend recently opened a box of a product and took a couple items out and put it back on the shelf...but they did it in front of a CCTV it's been 8 days later can they still be caught?

You betcha. If someone saw you do it (either live or on tape) and for some reason didn't confront you in the store, they have a long time in Virginia (5 years). I'd stay out of the store you were robbing lest they are looking for you.
