Can the Seller Legally Sell This Property
My question involves real estate located in the State of: West Virginia
I am considering buying the lot next to mine. The current owner bought the property while she was single. She later married and the couple has been living on the lot for about 14 years. The husband is now in jail facing a very long prison sentence and the wife wants to sell the property to me. The deed is still in her single name. If I buy this property from her, is there any chance I could later lose it to the convict husband?

West Virginia is not a community property state, so if she owned in singularly, she would not have to get her husband involved. To be absolutely sure, you can check with a local title company before proceding.
My sister owned property with me up in MA, not a community property state, we bought it before she re-married, and her husband was not involved when we sold the property.
