Received a MIP of Alcohol; I'm 18, Do I Need to Appear in Court with My Mom
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

I'm 18 and legally considered as an adult. I received a MIP of Alcohol in California the other day, will I need to go to court with a parent, or can I go alone?

Also, my friend got a MIP of Alcohol last year, but his license was NOT suspended. I thought it was mandatory that a MIP results in a suspension? What happened here?

    Thank you!

You want mommy & daddy to go with you??? You are an adult - they dont need to be there. You can bring them though if you wish

As a legal adult, you're not required to have a parent present in the courtroom. You'd do well to take a lawyer with you, however.

We couldn't tell you, we weren't there. And we won't speculate, either.

    Hi,

What if I was 17 at the time I got the ticket, but the court date is when I am 18?

Then mom and dad may be required.

As for the license suspension, that would depend on the code section under which he was convicted and whether or not he was convicted or had diversion.
