Getting Out of Paying Child Support
My question involves child support in the State of: Oklahoma.... I am the mother of a son who is 6 yrs old. I signed custody over to the father b4 he was born. But it wasnt signed by a judge or anything like that.. My problem is i havent seen or heard from the father since the day the child and I were released from the hospital when he was born. The father took the baby and went his way and I went mine. We were never married. Now after 5 yrs, he decided that he wants child support, I have no idea where he lives, I have no contact info for him at all. I was wanting to know if there is anyway i can get out of the child support, and give my parental rights up. I no it may sound wrong in me as a mother but I dont know this child, an he dosent no me, and the father dosent want to let me be in the childs life at all. I have never even seen a picture of this child. I dont have the money to take him to court for custody which i wouldnt get anyway due to me not being in his life for so long..
So what should I do, I was orderd to pay support of 400 a month, I'm currently 3,000 dollars behind in my support with no way to pay it. I dont have a job, im trying to get my disability, because I cant stand for more than 30 minutes at a time and I cant bend over at all... Can some 1 please help... also he is not married he is single. He aslo owes the state of Illonies over 50,000 in back child support for 2 other kids he das with some1 else...

So what should I do
You should take whatever job you can to pay your support obligation. No, there's no way for you to "get out of it". You helped create that child, and you're obligated by law to help support him.
Even if you never see him. It works this way for men, too.

Completely irrelevant.
Re: Getting Out of Paying Child Support
Agreed.
Further, the obligation to establish a relationship with your child is yours. YOU have to file for visitation to ensure your relationship with your child.
