    Embezzling from an Employer
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virgina

What are the statue of limitations when you have embezzled from an employer who knew you were doing it and turned their head to it, allowing you to continue? One year later no charges have been brought against me, but how long does the employer have to do so?

Misdemeanors generally have a one year statute of limitations, except that petty larceny has a five year limitation.
Felonies DO NOT HAVE any statute of limitations. Felony prosecution may commence at any time.
Your "employer" doesn't bring charges against you. The employer makes a complaint to the commonwealth, it is the commonwealth that will prosecute.

    Whew! This employer owns you.

My husband once told me that when he was a little kid, he thought "embezzlement" meant "stealing bezzles from work."
