Acquisition of Student Visa
I am a US citizen trying to study abroad in Santiago, Chile this coming January. Over this past summer I received two misdemeanor convictions. Misdemeanor Trespass and Misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
I have cleared my international travel plans with my probation office, the only issue now is figuring out what, if any, issues there will be on the Chilean front.
I have attempted to contact the Chilean consulate and embassy here in the states, but they haven't been concise in their answers. I have also contacted several law firms here in the states, but they all deal strictly with immigration issues coming into the U.S.
Are these two misdemeanors going to 1) affect my acquisition of a student visa, or 2) affect my entrance into Chile?
I realize this is a United States forum, and questions relating to laws of other countries may not be answered. But I'm running out of time, and would really appreciate any information.
Re: Acquisition of Student Visa
Your question falls under Chilean law, not U.S. law. I suggest trying to find a Chilean legal resource or asking a Chilean lawyer.
