As far as not mentioning him as a father (Guilty or Not Guilty) what does that mean?

It means what Aaron describes above, putting your name on it. And not placing his name on the application.

Is there any way I can make sure he is not present until the baby is born and I have already filled out the application for a birth cirtificate?
It will be best to call the hospital about that.

Additionally, I looked into a divorce without use of a lawyer, and from what I understand, if we do the divorce ourselves, agree on a visitation schedule and/or child support and present it to a judge, thats as good as having a lawyer, right?
Right, if you know what you mentioning to the judge.

    Quote:

And in order for him to get rights other than what I want him to have, he'd have to get a lawyer. Is this correct?
That may be up to the judge.

If he's not married to you (well, even if he is) if you're in the hospital giving birth you are the patient, not him. You can ask that he not be permitted to visit your room, and you can exclude him from the delivery room. The hospital will give you paperwork relating to the child's birth, such as the application for the birth certificate.

I think it is best for parents to cooperate in relation to their children, but no pregnant woman should have to feel like she's going to have an unwelcome ex- intruding upon her when she's giving birth.

It is possible for him to pursue paternity without hiring a lawyer. In most states it's generally easiest with the help of a lawyer, although some states offer considerable assistance in establishing paternity, and I believe all will attempt to establish paternity for a child who receives public assistance.
